Menu Monday – 24 OCT 11 – Daniel Fast Week 3
Here’s the menu for my family for the week of October 24th. I have some pumpkin leftover from my Winter Squash Stuffed with Wild Rice, Dried Cherries, and Roasted Pecans (the recipe will go up this week), and the boys are begging me to make pumpkin cookies.
Our church is currently observing 40 days of fasting, and Gregg and I decided that we would do a Daniel Fast. For the next few weeks, you will see a “vegan extreme” diet. We are consuming only fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, and drinking only water – no sugars, honey, syrups, nor eating leavened bread. Kaylee is observing her own form of this fast and will be abstaining from the sugars and the meat – she will be consuming dairy, however. The boys will be eating our meals with us, but will have some meat and will have dairy.

Here’s the menu for my family for the week of September 26th. As far as desserts go, I’m going to be trying a new cookie recipe or two to gear up for Christmas baking ideas!

Menu Monday 04 JUL 2011
Here’s the menu for my family for the week of July 4th. As far as desserts go, we’re going to make some Traditional Sugar Cookies cut out in star shapes for the Independence Day holiday. I’m also going to try some desserts that incorporate squash — because I have a plethora of squash and want to do something other than saute it. We’re leaving for Glen Eden Youth Center on Friday, so I’ll be making some granola bars and cookies to take with us for snacking there.

Menu Monday 09 MAY 2011
Here’s the menu for my family for the week of May 9th. I’m keeping the menu simple this week, because I have a lot of work to do in the garden. As far as desserts go, Kaylee is fasting from sugar this week, so I’m going to just have some fresh berries and (unsweetened) whipped cream to eat as a dessert, and I’m not going to make anything here that would tempt her.

Menu Monday 11 APR 2011
Here’s the menu for my family for the week of April 11th. As far as desserts go, the weather is remarkably warmer than when I left for spring break, so I’m going to pull out the ice cream maker and make some maple ice cream. I also need to fill the cookie jar with something yummy, and get some Oatmeal Raisin Cinnamon Chip Cookies in the mail to Gregg. I’m making dinner for Kaylee’s softball team Wednesday night, so I’m also going to make several batches of Delectable Deluxe Brownies. We also have four softball games this week, so I’m trying to at least make the protein of the dinner portable for Kaylee to grab and eat in the 30-45 minutes she has from the time she gets home from school to the time she has to be at the softball field.

Here’s the menu for my family for the week of March 28th. As far as desserts go, we are traveling this weekend, so I’m going to make some cookies for the trip.

Menu Monday 07 FEB 11
Here’s the menu for my family for the week of February 7th. As far as desserts go, I have several Valentine’s Bouquets to make this week, so we will be making quite a few batches of Traditional Sugar Cookies.
I am going into week 2 of a 16-week personal fitness challenge, which will include what I eat and when I eat it, and will involve me working out and running daily. I’m not going to do a lot about it here. My husband, Gregg, is starting up a blog about his personal journey with fitness and will leave all of that kind of blogging to him. There will be times that the kids eat something different from me (for instance, I don’t expect them to want tuna in their scrambled eggs). In those instances, I’ll have two meals listed – one for me and one for them.

Menu Monday 24 JAN 11
Here’s the menu for my family for the week of January 24th. For most of January, I’ve been traveling or recovering from traveling. As I type this, it’s Monday morning and I’m tired of eating out (and gaining weight), scrambling to get one suitcase unpacked and laundry done in order to get another suitcase packed, and desperate to get my household back on schedule. I have no plans to travel until at least the first weekend in March, and at best the first week of April. I need to make granola bars (which, in searching for the recipe to link for you, I strangely do not have one – that will be corrected as soon as possible), my whole wheat crackers jar is empty, and the cake plate is barren. My household is in a bit of disarray, but this week will correct that and the future will maintain that.

Menu Monday 27 DEC 10 – New Year’s Week!
Here’s the menu for my family for the week of December 27th. As far as desserts go, we still have some Captain Crunch Candy and some fudge left, but the cookie jar is empty. I will probably make some easy cookie to fill the jar and use the left over marshmallow cream and Rice Crispies from the goodies I made last week and make some Rice Crispies treats. We’ll also make a celebration New Year’s 2011 cake.

Menu Monday 20 SEP 2010
Here’s the menu for my family for the week of September 20th. Wow! I can’t believe that Autumn is imminent. I love autumn cooking — rich stews made with root veggies, apples, squashes. YUM! As far as desserts go, I’m making an apple rosetta pie for my friend, Rose. I am mailing Gregg a box so I need to make some Oatmeal Raisin Cinnamon Chip Cookies. I am also going to attempt a Yummy Yellow Cake made with fresh ground whole wheat flour and see how that turns out taste and texturally.
Sunday I’ll be fasting completely, and next week I’ll be observing a Daniel Fast. I’ll write more about that later this week.
