Menu for the week of August 24, 2010
The “rules” of our household diet can be found in the tab above labeled Hallee’s Galley and further explained in Our Diet.
I usually serve leftovers for lunch the next day, or we’ll save them during the week to graze lunch on the weekends. One meal a week, we eat whatever we want. This is usually our “Dinner Out” meal.
Almost all of the breads are homemade using fresh milled flour. I’ll continue to link to my recipes as I post them. Our “daily” bread is Whole Wheat Honey Oatmeal Bread.
Here’s the menu for my family for the week of August 24th. As far as desserts go, my cake plate is empty. I think we need a cake. I have a coconut and saw a fresh coconut cake recipe. If I can find that recipe (I read it in a doctor’s office several weeks ago) I think I’ll give it a go. Kaylee’s favorite is coconut. We have a cookie jar about half filled with Oatmeal Raisin Cinnamon Chip Cookies that Gregg and I made with homemade cinnamon chips (we didn’t like the ingredients in the Hershey’s brand.) I’ll be posting that recipe and process, and likely will make him another batch to mail to him with a box that has to go out next week. Kaylee has also requested chocolate chunk cookies (recipe to follow) for her lunches next week.
Family Favorite Steak and Gravy, Wonderful Whipped Potatoes, fresh green beans, tossed salad
Italian Turkey Sausage Spaghetti Sauce, homemade whole wheat spaghetti, French Bread, garden salad
roast duck with orange sauce, wild rice, green peas
ground lamb in Homemade Whole Wheat Pita Bread, Hummus bi Tahini, Greek salad
I’m so grateful for your visit, today.

Good Morning Hallee,
This is a fabulous coconut cake recipe using fresh coconut. I added the coconut water to the cake batter as well.
OOOH – that is so awesome! Thank you! That may just be the recipe I read. The picture looks familiar and the process was similar. Very cool. Can’t wait to do it!
The sweet potato sticks look great. I’ll have to try them with a sprinkle of paprika next time!
