Here’s the menu for my family for the week of September 26th. As far as desserts go, I’m going to be trying a new cookie recipe or two to gear up for Christmas baking ideas!

My mom found this recipe in a magazine probably thirty years ago. This recipe is AMAZING. I don’ t know exactly what sets it apart from other hot nachos recipes, but something does. You won’t find a better dish to take to a party – this is probably the dish for which I’m most often asked for the recipe. They’re called “Supper Nachos” because they are a meal. They’re a family favorite.
Pin ItI’m not a fan of the packaged seasoning mixes only because they contain ingredients other than the spices. I haven’t been using them now for about two years and haven’t missed using them yet.
Pin ItI never realized how easy it was to make refried beans. As much as we love Mexican food, I hate to think about how many cans of beans we’ve gone through. This recipe is great as a side dish or in any recipe that calls for refried beans. This recipe will make 2 cans worth (about 2 pounds).
Pin ItNow, on September 15th, I’m worn out. If I never see another mason jar or freezer bag again, it would suit me just fine. I have been slicing, dicing, cooking, peeling, preserving, drying, and freezing until I just don’t want to do it any more. Don’t get me wrong – God has provided and I am thankful. As much as I love the art of food preservation, I’m just ready for this season to be over. I’ve kept up with school, laundry, and scrubbing. The house is clean, but the picking up and general housekeeping maintenance has been ignored and the day-to-day clutter is about to take over, the classroom is chaos, and my kitchen may never recover. I still have suitcases on the floor of my bedroom from our trip to Ft. Wayne, Indiana, Labor Day Weekend.
Here’s the menu for my family for the week of September 12th. As far as desserts go, my cookie jar is empty and must be filled! I’ll be making some Traditional Sugar Cookies and decorating them with the boys this week for art for school.
Pin ItI love this wrap, because using steak as a meat in it gives lunch a little facelift from the normal turkey or tuna. This is a great source of protein, which helps Kaylee get through her day since she eats lunch at 10:30 in the morning. It tastes fantastic, and is packed full of all sorts of good vitamins and minerals.
Pin ItI love fish tacos. I discovered them at the Cheesecake Factory in Boston and haven’t met one I didn’t like yet.
I also love salmon. My parents are from Oregon, and my grandfather loved salmon fishing. I grew up eating salmon fresh off of the grill all summer long.
Pin ItKaylee isn’t a huge fan of sandwiches, so I’m always looking for an alternative to a traditional sandwich for her. She also eats lunch at 10:30, and has to make it the rest of the day to 3:30. The higher the protein lunch, the better sustained she’ll be.Gregg loves high protein lunches, and I’m always on the quest for high protein low carbs for him. This wrap is perfect for both of them.
