These were SOOOO yummy. And, such a nice break from a zucchini bread kind of sweet with squash. Gregg said that it was too sweet, but I gave him a large piece. When I cut the piece sizes to about the size of fudge, they were the perfect size.

Here’s the menu for my family for the week of July 4th. As far as desserts go, we’re going to make some Traditional Sugar Cookies cut out in star shapes for the Independence Day holiday. I’m also going to try some desserts that incorporate squash — because I have a plethora of squash and want to do something other than saute it. We’re leaving for Glen Eden Youth Center on Friday, so I’ll be making some granola bars and cookies to take with us for snacking there.
Pin ItHere’s the menu for my family for the week of June 27th. Gregg is home (yay!) and Tuesday this week is our 9th wedding anniversary. As such, I’m going to attempt to create a red velvet cheesecake my friend Heather from Out of the Box Into the Kitchen recommended to me. The recipe she gave me called for a Devil’s Food cake mix, so I’m going to try to recreate the recipe real food style. I also found a cookie cutter in the shape of Lightning McQueen, and may make some Traditional Sugar Cookies and let my boys decorate some cookies. We also have a ton of birthday cake left.
Pin ItHere’s the menu for my family for the week of June 20th. Gregg comes home Thursday night!! My sister-in-law will also be in town Thursday night and my parents on Friday because we’re having a big combination birthday party for Scott and Johnathan on Saturday. As far as desserts go, I’ll be filling the cookie jar with something fun so that there’s cookies available for all of our company. I’ll also be making a large sheet cake for the boys’ party, and some homemade ice cream for the party.
Pin ItI made dinner for a family from church the other night. I was packaging up the roast beef and trimmings I’d been cooking all day when it suddenly occurred to me — I hadn’t done anything for dessert. In panic mode, I ran through a quick inventory of what was immediately available and what I could come up with, when I spied my full cookie jar. The boys and I had made Whole Wheat Dark Chocolate Chip Cookies the day before. I’d used slivered almonds as the nut and they were beyond wonderful.
I decided to use my Smooth & Creamy French Vanilla Bean Ice Cream and make ice cream sandwiches.
Pin ItMy grandfather had an ice cream maker that sat in a wooden tub and churned out the most amazing tasting, sweet and creamy concoction ever known to man’s mouth. We would wait and wait for summer time, then beg him constantly to make some ice cream. I have been on a search for a recipe like his ever since I got my first ice cream maker. This one comes mighty close. Just a few ingredients – I used honey instead of sugar – and you’ll have “the” ice cream that your kids and grand kids will beg you to make.
Pin ItHere’s the menu for my family for the week of June 6th. My menu will be scaled down a bit for the next few weeks. Kaylee is gone, and Gregg won’t be home until later in the month, so the meals are going to be much more toddler-friendly. As far as desserts go, I have some fresh peaches, so I think I’m going to make a Fresh Peach Pie. I also made a French Vanilla Bean Honey Ice Cream – I will post that recipe this week.
Pin ItHere’s the menu for my family for the week of May 16th. As far as desserts go, right now my kids are content with Snow Cones and ice cream. I may make a batch of Whole Wheat Dark Chocolate Chip Cookies just to keep the cookie jar filled.
Pin ItHere’s the menu for my family for the week of May 9th. I’m keeping the menu simple this week, because I have a lot of work to do in the garden. As far as desserts go, Kaylee is fasting from sugar this week, so I’m going to just have some fresh berries and (unsweetened) whipped cream to eat as a dessert, and I’m not going to make anything here that would tempt her.
Pin ItHere’s the menu for my family for the week of April 11th. As far as desserts go, the weather is remarkably warmer than when I left for spring break, so I’m going to pull out the ice cream maker and make some maple ice cream. I also need to fill the cookie jar with something yummy, and get some Oatmeal Raisin Cinnamon Chip Cookies in the mail to Gregg. I’m making dinner for Kaylee’s softball team Wednesday night, so I’m also going to make several batches of Delectable Deluxe Brownies. We also have four softball games this week, so I’m trying to at least make the protein of the dinner portable for Kaylee to grab and eat in the 30-45 minutes she has from the time she gets home from school to the time she has to be at the softball field.
