High Protein Breakfast Smoothie
High Protein Breakfast Smoothie
We love smoothies. I use organic plain yogurt, so there is no added sugar there, and I use whey powder that does’t have any artificial sweeteners in it – be careful with labels because there are very few flavors within very few brands that have good ingredients. But we’re able to weed through them and come up with a amazing and healthy breakfast that is easily consumed “on the run.” I have this for breakfast at least once a week, and often for a mid-morning snack.
1 cup plain yogurt
1 envelope instant oatmeal (unflavored)
1 scoop vanilla whey protein
1 banana
½ cup frozen berries
½ cup whole milk
½ cup crushed ice
1 TBS ground flax seed
blender
measuring cups/spoons
Place all ingredients in blender.
Blend until smooth.

Hallee, do you mind to share with me what brand protein whey u use? My hubby is diabetic, and needs the extra protein in his diet (due to post polio syndrome) without the sweetners. Thanks for all you do here, and for posting this recipe for your smoothies. We love smoothies!
We are careful to purchase whey powder that has no artificial sweeteners in it. So far, GNC’s vanilla and chocolate have sugar only. The others have sucralose. I don’t know what your husband uses for sweetener, but I do know that GNC and the brand that Sam’s carries both have an unflavored one – that would have no sweetener at all in it.
Thxs Hallee!
I just went to Trader Joes this weekend and they had a couple of protien powders that didn’t have the artificial sweetners in them . And they had good prices ! So if you have a TJ around you might try them too.
Thank you for adding the nutrition part of your recipes. I have to be careful of sodium so I really appreciate it
Looks good! I have a question about the “1 envelope instant oatmeal” – can I substitute old fashioned oats or quick oats? We don’t have any packaged oatmeal in our pantry. Thanks!
