The Ultimate Travel Skirt

I am a Travel Smith catalog junkie. I never purchase anything from there – I just read all about the clothes and the shoes and the leather bags and (jokingly) wish I lived a life of a leisurely traveler – A frequent rider of the Orient Express, a regular shopper in the streets of Bombay, an expert at driving a 4-wheel drive through the Serengeti. Gregg and I often joke about being independently wealthy and traveling the world, homeschooling our children, doing research for our books.

Just Do It

I saw Cathy of Cathy’s Creations post a link on Facebook a few days ago with a story about the staggering number of orphans post earthquake/tsunami in Japan. She said, “I wish there was something I/we could do for these children.” It got me thinking.

Spring Has Sprung!

Well, actually it officially sprang Sunday, but this was the first available date for this post.

I love every season as it approaches. I enjoy snow and winter, I enjoy heat and summer, I enjoy harvesting my garden and autumn…so WHY am I so excited about spring this year?

Monday Morning Survey

I’d love it if every single person reading this post will reply. I know I have an incredibly diverse readership, and I’d love to see what people have to say. It will take you less than two minutes to reply. I’m researching public opinion for a post I’m writing for April 1st at Seeds of Faith.

Menu Monday 21 MAR 2011

Here’s the menu for my family for the week of March 21st. Last week, I told you that our church is taking part in a call to 40 days of fasting and prayer. I told you that I’d decided to do a Daniel Fast throughout the 40-days, but I changed my mind. I absolutely did not feel led to begin a Daniel Fast. Instead, I will be participating in the fasting in a different way. I will update you as that happens.

Kaylee’s softball season begins today. She has a game every single night this week, and every night most weeks until the season ends. Our meals are going to be portable for the away games, allowing the boys to eat on our way to the games.

What Matters Most

One thing I hear all the time is that people’s lifestyles are so crazy and there isn’t time to spend with God. The thought of just fifteen minutes of devoted prayer time and a five minute “Sound Byte” devotional is overwhelming to many, not to speak of hours of devoted prayer time and hours of devoted Bible study. Yet, the average American adult spends 3-4 hours a day watching television.

Hearty Whole Grain Waffles

This is my go-to recipe for waffles in the hotel-style waffle maker. They have an amazing flavor and pack a nutritious punch that would be hard pressed to be beaten. I love serving them with real butter and real maple syrup.
