Refreshing Orange Ice Cream
Refreshing Orange Ice Cream
This is the most refreshing ice cream you’ll ever eat.
For a 1-gallon sized ice cream maker:
1 large can crushed pineapple
64 ounces orange soda (the original recipe called for a 2-liter bottle of Orange Crush. I use organic clementine soda that comes in 12 ounce bottles)
1-gallon sized ice cream maker
Plenty of ice
A rubber spatula to get the ice-cream out
A bottle opener might be called for if you use organic orange soda
1 quart sealable containers (to freeze the ice cream in for later)
If you haven’t used it in a while (like since last summer) make sure your ice cream maker is in good working order. Fill the metal canister with water and take a good look to make sure there are no leaks. You don’t want salty ice-cream!
We pour the rock salt into an empty large yogurt container or similar so we can layer it in between layers of ice. It works great.
You might want to put a folded beach towel down underneath the ice cream machine before you fill it to catch any condensation while it’s running.
Stir all of the ingredients together and run the machine.

This will be the hit of any summertime picnic. It’s fantastic as a topper to most pies and cakes, too.
I would love to hear any feedback about this recipe. Did you make it? Did you enjoy it? Did you make any adjustments to it?
