The Fine Art of Discipline

Posted by Hallee on Oct 20, 2009 in Parenting, Raising boys, Raising girls

Whenever there is societal butting of heads over anything to do with what is the best decision to make, I always turn to the best source for any answer: God’s Word. The Bible is full of passages for parents concerning parenting and discipling children.

Less than a minute

Posted by Hallee on Oct 17, 2009 in Parenting, Raising boys, Raising girls

I realized I’d moved too far away from the boys and turned to get my eyes on them. No Scott.

A Different Kind of Housecleaning

Posted by Hallee on Sep 25, 2009 in biblical manhood, Biblical womanhood, Christian Faith, holiness, Parenting, Sex

In the course of the last year, we’ve been working on giving it ALL to God, to make our entire lives – as individuals, as a married couple, and as a family – over to God and over to what He would have us do for Him, so that whatever we do will be used to glorify Him.

Family Game Night

Posted by Hallee on Sep 19, 2009 in Parenting, Raising boys, Raising girls

If you don’t have a set game night, I highly encourage it. Once a week, turn the world off and have FUN. Interact with your children in an intimate setting where they feel comfortable to share their life with you.

Soy – OH BOY!

Posted by Hallee on Sep 11, 2009 in Christian Faith, diet & fasting, Parenting, Raising boys

It is estimated that an infant exclusively fed soy formula receives the estrogen equivalent (based on body weight) of at least 5 birth control pills per day.(14) By contrast, almost no phytoestrogens have been detected in dairy-based infant formula or in human milk, even when the mother consumes soy products.

A Tigger-Iffic Time

Posted by Hallee on Aug 22, 2009 in Desserts, Hallee's Galley, Parenting, Raising girls

Scott helps me cook all the time. He’s very adept at putting premeasured ingredients into the mixer bowl, whisking eggs, holding a teaspoon while I pour vanilla into it, etc. The more I let him do, the better he gets at doing it. He’s become my right-hand man in the kitchen.

Boys Will Be…

Posted by Hallee on Aug 14, 2009 in Parenting, Raising boys

Nature vs Nurture. The arguments in that debate are that 1) boys and girls are taught to be different versus 2) boys and girls are simply different. It actually surprised me to learn that there was a debate about that… that there could be a debate about that.

Lie-brear-airy Day

Posted by Hallee on Aug 7, 2009 in Parenting, Raising boys

The boys love library day. We live in a small town, but our library is wonderful and their children’s section is a brand-new wing.
