Here is a video tutorial on how to truss a whole chicken. I just used standard kitchen string for trussing. Note: if you want to stuff something into the cavity, I suggest you do it prior to trussing.

But then there’s this part of me that considers that on a normal day, I load, wash, and unload dishes into my dishwasher twice a day. I unload in the morning when I get up, and after lunch, it’s full and needs to be reloaded. I unload it during dinner prep, and re-load it after dinner.
Pin ItHere’s the menu for my family for the week of February 20th. As far as desserts go, I intended to make a fresh cherry pie in honor of Presidents’ Day, but I have a certain 5-year-old who recently learned how to use a cherry pitter, and who found the bag of cherries. So, that’s out. I may still make a Cherry Pie and serve it when we have company coming for dinner on Tuesday.
Gregg and I are also taking a little weekend trip alone to celebrate my 40th birthday (which isn’t until next week). We’ll be leaving Friday evening and not returning until Sunday afternoon.

Pin ItHere’s the menu for my family for the week of February 13th. As far as desserts go, I made 48 strawberry cupcakes that I will be frosting with buttercream frosting Monday morning and sending half of them off to work with Gregg. I’m also going to make Traditional Sugar Cookies to make a cookie bouquet for a Valentine’s Day gift for Scott’s teacher.

Pin ItI love this recipe, because there is no sugar in it. It uses maple syrup as the sweetener. The addition of the almond extract is the perfect flavor to make your cup of coffee taste like a cinnamon roll right out of the oven.
