Blizzard Bloghop Tour: Second Hops

This is the second time I get to play tourguide on a whirlwind trip through the Blissdom Blizzard folks who got snowed in and Bloghopped instead. I reacquainted myself with some great friends I already knew and hopefully made some new friends along the way. I’ll post about 10 tourspots a day until we get through them all.

Red Handed

The pictures didn’t come out. I’m irritated because you can’t see how bad this really was. These are little Jeb handprints – red handprints – more specifically, handprints made from hands smeared with red lipstick. I don’t want to really discuss the incident or the red handprints that went all the way up the stair banister, the stairwell wall, the upstairs hallway, the boys’ bedroom door…

Menu Monday 08 Feb 2010 – Valentine’s Week!

Here’s the menu for my family for the week of Monday, February 8, 2010. As far as desserts go, we’re going to be celebrating the Boy Scouts Anniversary and will be making Smores Cub-Cakes, and I hope to get some truffles made for Valentine’s Day. I also have to make 20 checkerboard cakes for our church Valentine’s Day Banquet, and 5 chocolate cakes for Wednesday night dinner.

Monthly Reminder ☺

In my post about cancer awareness month way back on October 6th of last year, I encouraged everyone to order a free breast self exam shower card here and to use it. Select a day once a month to do a self-exam. I also encouraged everyone to find a buddy and remind each other to do your breast exams.

Stuff

I’ve taken the week off. I tend to get in a bit of a funk the first week after Gregg is gone, and this week I refused to try to function, which I would end up failing to do and then feel guilty about it, but just kind of gave into it.

Oatmeal Raisin Cinnamon Chip Cookies

I stumbled upon cinnamon chips at the commissary years ago and made the recipe on the back of the bag. These things were AMAZING. Everywhere I went, people asked me for the recipe. Then one day I couldn’t find them anymore. I searched everywhere, every store, all the time for them (I will admit that I still look for them in the baking aisle.) When we moved to Kentucky, we found Meijer stores and — they carry them! So, good luck finding them. I DO intend to play around with making my own cinnamon chips, so look for that sometime in the near future. I have since adjusted the recipe on the back – and they’re even better than they were before (which seems not only improbable, but impossible.)

And the Winner Is…

I counted the comments, the twitters, the emails, the Google Friends, and assigned numbers to everyone based on order and time of emails, then used random.org to generate the answer.

There were 170 entries total. And the winner is:
