Egg-in-a-Hole
This is one of my all time favorite breakfasts. I love fried eggs cooked medium, and I love soaking up the yolk with toast. This meal just puts it all together for me. The kids love it because it’s “fun”.
Start by slicing a nice, thick slice of bread.
Cut a hole out of the middle of it with a small biscuit cutter.
Butter both sides of the bread.
Heat a skillet to medium-medium-high heat. When the skillet is hot, put the buttered bread in it.
Place another tab of butter in the hole.
Gently crack your egg and slowly put it in the hole. The slower you go, the more the egg is going to cook right there in the hole and be contained by the bread.
Monitor your bread. When the down side is browned, use a spatula and gently flip the whole thing over.
Cook until the bread is browned on the other side. The egg will be cooked medium – hard whites, soft yolks.
Brown the spare pieces in the same pan.
Serve and enjoy.

Yum!
Your blog is torture while I am on this diet…and yet I cannot stop reading! :)
Any diet that would disallow egg in a hole is no friend of mine. :)
HAHA!
Yum! I love breakfast!
Maybe I will do “2 egg whites in a hole” :)
my dad used to make this for us all the time…seriously my favorite part is the middle bread all toasted up! but we also used to call them toad in a hole…no idea why!
Cute! I’ll be making these tomorrow for four hungry kids. It’s easy, too. Thanks Hallee :)
My mom used to make these for me when I was kid, but we called them “one-eyed monsters”
intersting, never have seen this before. I will def try this as i am trying to get Elizabeth to eat eggs and bread more
I discovered these a few years ago and LOVE them. They are amazing with a slice of cheese on top (or a sprinkle of cheddar since I am trying to get away from the more processed stuff!)
