Loving a Life of Biblical Womanhood
Our pastor preached a sermon one time on marriage and said, “I can go to work and get beat up by work colleagues all day long. I can get cut off in traffic, I can get talked over in meetings, I can get disrespected by my associates. And I can come come to my wife who is my biggest cheerleader and who tells me I’m wonderful and can do it, and nothing else will matter. The rest of the world just fades away into unimportant.”

Last week I made this great recipe. It’s one I’ve made before and my family enjoys it. I served it over rice pilaf but you could serve it over mashed potatoes or couscous.
I haven’t always been afraid of spiders. My mother is and always has been, but they never really scared me. At least, until my senior year of high school, when my friend, Robbie, took me to see the movie Arachnophobia. That movie scared me.
I’m a busy person. I tend to have several irons in the fire simultaneously. I’m great at multitasking and quite capable of juggling. However, I realize that if I want to homeschool the boys, I need to be able to stop everything around me, end the outside distractions, and just teach. This is my trial year. Scott just turned 5 and we are “Redshirting” him – so we’re going to work with a 4K program. If I can do it full time this year, then we know we’ll be able to continue doing it. If not, then we need look at our other options.
Here’s the menu for my family for the week of August 22nd. As far as desserts go, I’m going to play around with some cookie recipes getting ready for a week of lunch box recipes as schools around the country are starting and gearing up to start. Scott has also asked me a dozen times in the last few days to make him Delectable Deluxe Brownies.

We’re going to start it September 3rd. We’d start this week, but my husband got home Sunday evening after spending the last 29 months in Afghanistan, and I just haven’t spent a lot of time reading or preparing blog posts this week *smile*.

A group of soldiers who worked with my husband in Enduring Base Sharana, Afghanistan, have a regular pizza night. SFC Cale Hepler is the host for this regular tradition, and sent me these pictures and this story:
I’ve needed to go to the commissary for several weeks now, but have put it off or things have gotten in the way or I’ve just not had time. And there I sat, three days before a planned trip to the commissary, but out of dishwasher detergent.
I grew up in a family of six. Other than my mom, we were all big milk drinkers. Our household went through a gallon of milk every day.
When my mom baked, she never used the milk out of our gallons – she always used canned “evaporated milk.” It’s how I grew up baking.
