High Protein Breakfast Smoothie

We love smoothies. I use organic plain yogurt, so there is no added sugar there, and I use whey powder that does’t have any artificial sweeteners in it – be careful with labels because there are very few flavors within very few brands that have good ingredients. But we’re able to weed through them and come up with a amazing and healthy breakfast that is easily consumed “on the run.” I have this for breakfast at least once a week, and often for a mid-morning snack.

10 Things Never to Say…

My friend Amy handed me a cut-out from Redbook magazine Sunday. A blogger was asked to come up with 10 things never to say to a stay-at-home-mom. I’m going to re-title this, because I loathe the term “stay-at-home-mom” – but everything else gets credited to Candy Kirby of thelaughingstork.com:

Painful Little Pods

Saturday, the weather was moderate (50 degrees F) so when we took Kaylee to the park where she’ll have her home softball games so that she could work with her team to clean the ball field, the boys and I stayed and played.

There was this tree right by the field that had balls hanging off of it – it looked like Christmas ornaments. This is the same kind of tree – but the picture was taken in a different location.

Menu Monday 21 FEB 2011

Here’s the menu for my family for the week of February 20th. As far as desserts go, I’m going to make the kids a Deep Dark Chocolate Cake (HOW have I not posted that recipe yet? I will rectify that asap!) and will just have a container of whipped cream in the fridge to top it with as they get a slice!

Sapphire Ice Prologue

Since I broke the ice by officially talking about my writing earlier this week, I thought I’d share this with you. This is the prologue to the first book in a trilogy about 3 half sisters. I am moving forward with the trilogy, but discarding this prologue. (I have actually completed the first two books and am finishing up the third.)

I thought some of you might like an introduction to the characters along with my fiction writing style.
