A Birthday Tradition
Every year on my birthday my husband sends my mother Godiva chocolate.
The card says, “Thank you for my beautiful wife, wonderful mother, child of God. Happy Hallee’s Birthday! — Gregg.”
Every year that he does that, I fall more and more in love with him. It seems impossible to think that I can possibly love him any more than I do, but yet it continues to grow exponentially.

Today is my mom’s birthday and I have to admit…I don’t think the thought of sending her a gift even crossed my husbands mind! :) My birthday is really close to Christmas (right before it, in all the hustle and bustle) and he is always really great about having the kids throw me a mini surprise party that is ALL birthday and NO Christmas! I love him <3
Gregg’s birthday is close to Christmas, too. I try not to even decorate until his birthday comes (the 16th).
Gregg is really bad at remembering birthdays, so I don’t think he’d think to send something on my mom’s birthday, either – haha. He checks with me every year to confirm what day my birthday is.
Mine remembers when my birthday is (he better, I grew up with him, LOL!) and he usually buys me a card. We don’t do much on birthdays for anyone but the kids but he always wakes up early and runs to the store before I get up just to get me a card.
Oo! I want Godiva on your birthday too…or my birthday…or my mom’s birthday…or all of them! I don’t really care, I just want the chocolate ;)
That’s super sweet of your hubby. Unfortunately my family as a whole isn’t too big on celebrating birthdays (we’re changing that with the kids, though), so my mom isn’t really into celebrating my birthday let alone for her to get her own card and candy! She usually calls me and sings to me and sometimes she’ll make me a cake :) My hubby doesn’t do anything special, it’s something different every year whether giving me time to myself, taking me out, or getting me an ice cream cake…whatever I express interest in that year.
