Organizing the Boys’ Room

I’ve been looking for a way to organize the boys’ toys. What we were using was a big Rubbermaid bin. But it was so deep that for Jeb to even be able to access any toy that wasn’t on top, we had to lay it on its side. They also didn’t even know what was in it – so they never played with anything.

In our church nursery, there are two shelves that are made from cubes that have cloth drawers. I’ve always admired how the shelves look, but I didn’t think too much about them until my first Sunday working the nursery. I discovered that those cubes hold an amazing amount of stuff!

Dressed for Success

He’d said this to me for years – in fact, in an email I received from him a week after I met him, he extolled how much he loved the fact that I put an effort into looking nice. But this time, reading it, I took it as an accusation – as in, “I would appreciate it if you would put an effort into your appearance, but you don’t because you’re fat, ugly, frumpy, limp.”

Red Handed

The pictures didn’t come out. I’m irritated because you can’t see how bad this really was. These are little Jeb handprints – red handprints – more specifically, handprints made from hands smeared with red lipstick. I don’t want to really discuss the incident or the red handprints that went all the way up the stair banister, the stairwell wall, the upstairs hallway, the boys’ bedroom door…

Blizzard Bloghop

For those of you who read me who are not in the “blogging world”, this weekend is a huge blogging conference called Blissdom. Some of us couldn’t go because an ocean separates them from Nashville, some of us chose not to go because our husbands went back to Afghanistan last weekend and we thought the stress of Mommy going away for a whole weekend would be too much for our toddlers, and some of us just couldn’t go.

Guest Post: Couponning 101’s Heather on Money Saving Grocery Shopping

Hi, My name is Heather and I’m a super coupon junkie. I have a really hard time paying full price for anything and beyond that, I’m in it for the rush! There’s a thrill to stand at the checkout and watch the total $$ go down as the total savings goes up… I’m a huge fan of couponning and making every sale work for me, so much that I actually blog about it at http://couponning101.blogspot.com

Being a guest blogger on Hallee’s site is kinda like going to my first AA meeting – I’m sharing my addiction with you… but unlike AA, this addiction can save you tons of money a year on your groceries no matter where you live in the USA

Christmas Tour of My Home

I’ll be honest with you, I’ve hesitated about doing this post for a while now. I am not a decorator, nor do I pretend to be. I don’t know what to do or how to do it. I can copy what someone else has done, but when I go to copy it, I have a super incredible really hard time spending the money to do it.

Case in point: my husband built the bookshelves and fireplace mantle you’ll see in these pictures in August when he was home for vacation. In August. Most of the shelves are still bare. I just really don’t know what to put on them.

But, in the spirit of the Yule, and in hoping that after I hit the after Christmas mega sales on decorating items, this will bring you a little bit of joy and maybe provide me with a “look how much I improved since last year” post next year. :)

Pondering Pennies Past & Present

A friend’s blog post from this week inspired me to write this today. She blogged about taking over their family’s finances and looking forward to the coming year and seeing what she can do about emergency funds and vacation funds and such.
