While researching pummelos, I came across several referenced to candying the rind. It smelled so wonderful that I thought that I would try my hand at candying it just to try it out. I’m so glad I did. What a delicious, citrusy treat. This would be perfect on top of a cake – I will get started on pairing the perfect cake for these little sugary strips now.

When my mom makes turkey gravy, she always makes giblet gravy (recipe to follow). It took me many years to learn how to make any other kind of gravy. Now that I make this recipe, it would be hard for me to say whether I prefer giblet gravy over this traditional gravy or not! It is really flavorful and the perfect compliment to the rest of your Thanksgiving feast.
Pin ItWhen I first read this recipe, I didn’t understand what the instructions meant. Once I started performing the actions, they made perfect sense. I’m glad I take pictures, because I’d probably explain the process to you in circles! These rolls were light and wonderful – a perfect compliment to our Thanksgiving feast – or any feast for that matter!
Pin ItScott calls these “salads” and will eat them raw if I let him. I love them – boiled, steamed, roasted – it doesn’t matter to me. I’ve tried different seasonings, spices, and methods, and it all comes back to just simple salt and pepper and a roasting in olive oil – that makes the best way to serve them for me.
Pin ItRoasting a turkey may seem like a daunting task, but it’s really not that difficult. It’s just a matter of making sure it’s cooked all the way more than anything, and making sure you don’t over-cook it. Under-cooked turkey is a health hazard, and over-cooked turkey can be dry.
Pin ItI love pecan pie. It is absolutely one of my favorite pies. This was the first time I made this particular recipe for pumpkin pie and I loved it. It’s easy, few ingredients, and tastes fantastic. I used whole wheat flour and coconut oil for the crust.
Pin ItI do not enjoy eating turkey without cranberry sauce. It’s just part of that whole dinner to me. Once I tasted cranberry sauce made with fresh cranberries, I just can’t imagine going back to the canned kind. This recipe is wonderful – the orange in it cuts the tartness of the berries perfectly.
Pin ItEver since the first time I used a fresh pumpkin, I’ve much preferred that over canned pumpkin. I have not yet come across a pumpkin recipe that I wasn’t able to use the fresh pumpkin in lieu of canned. This pie turned out beautifully and cooked perfectly. I used whole wheat flour and coconut oil to make the crust.
Pin ItI will admit that I made a mistake when I made this recipe. I was in a hurry and skimmed the recipe and just didn’t read it clearly. The original recipe called for the items to be added to the bowl up to a point, then a streussel-type topping made with pecans. Instead, I dumped it all in, then realized what I’d done — and just threw some mini marshmellows on top instead. It was really good, but I will give you the correct instructions after we go through the pictures of how I did it.
Pin ItThese were amazing. I’ve made them twice since discovering the recipe, and they were just as good both times. I got the recipe from the back of the Hersheys Mini Kisses package, and changed it to whole wheat flour and bumped up the salt some. I took them to a church potluck, and a friend tasted them and requested them for the upcoming youth convention trip. They were a huge hit.
