At 5, Jeb is our absolute joy. I don’t say that to take anything away from our other children, but Jeb is just…joy. He is highly emotional and has a happy nature, which means he is almost always just bubbling over with happiness. A friend at church says often that she wishes she could capture his laugh and just have it throughout her day.
I love the simplicity of natural home births and the lack of medical intervention on labor. Despite my high risk pregnancies that resulted in emergency c-sections and long NICU stays, I wish that was our societal norm now. I’m not a fan of epidurals or the clinical-ness of giving birth in a hospital.Pin It
I’m not strict about turning things off on Saturdays. They don’t have time to do a lot during the school week, and on Sundays we only watch shows that are about God or The Bible. So, I tend to give them free reign on Saturdays. As summer approached, it became clear to me that the boys were anticipating every day during summer being like Saturdays. I realized I had to quell those thoughts.
When I fired up my stand mixer to make this dough into fettuccine noodles to go with the Turkey Sausage Spaghetti Sauce I’d made, my 4-year-old, Jeb, came running into the room. He wanted to help. He’s a pro at the pasta machine (as all my kids are), so I just let him go at it and filmed it. This is unscripted, and impromptu, so I apologize for the unsteady camera and the lighting.Pin It
I used cloth diapers, but training pants and vinyl covers didn’t work well. They always leaked, especially if Jeb was in his car seat or seated in a stroller. So, I went from cloth diapers to disposable pull ups. I only used them when we went out and at night. Most of the rest of the time, I just let him be at home naked.
The list is as long as my arm, but on the top was putting beds together. I wanted to get Kaylee into a full bed (her feet have started hanging over the end of her twin bed), and move the boys from toddler beds into twin beds. My dad spent Saturday morning putting beds together, then we spent Saturday afternoon trying desperately to figure out how to get them to fit in the bedroom.
