Peanut Butter & Jelly Cake

I made this cake for Gregg’s birthday this year. I’d made his traditional Red Velvet Cake in the form of a cake roll for him to take to work with him that day, so I thought I’d change things up a bit. This was an amazing flavor – it tasted just like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, but in the form of a cake! I did not not take pictures of the process, but it’s very simple.

Natalee’s Memorial Day Cupcakes

My friend Natalee is a veterinarian living in Washington state with her husband and 2 awesome kids. Imported from Canada some years ago, she does things with cupcakes you just cannot believe. You can find her other amazing contributions to the blog here. I wrote her a couple of weeks ago and asked if she could do a cupcake for Memorial Day. I cannot tell you how thrilled I was when she decided to do something with Forget-Me-Nots. These flowers are traditional memorials for Canada’s Newfoundland’s war dead instead of the Flanders Poppies that are popular in America. These cupcakes are beautiful. She named them “Red, White, and Blueberry Cupcakes with Forget-Me-Nots.”

Guest Post: Natalee’s Ben Franklin Birthday Cupcakes

I tried to think of ways to make a glass armonica, a furnace, reaching claw, and a flexible urinary catheter. I found that these tutorials although might prove amusing to me and to those who read this would not prove useful to most people performing cupcakery. Somehow a ‘congrats on passing the kidney stone’ cupcake just didn’t feel quite right. I did feel however the kite could easily be used for a spring party or a birthday party and the glasses could be a fun addition to an ‘over the hill’ party. Hope I haven’t embarrassed myself too much and I do hope that I get to show off more complicated cupcakery in the future, but these were fun, educational, and hey darn tasty too!

Engaging Eggnog Cookies

Do you have some leftover eggnog, too? Not a problem. A friend of a friend shared an Eggnog Cookie recipe that is quick and easy and a perfect “after Christmas” treat. They taste just great topped with nutmeg. They taste even better topped with eggnog icing. They taste the very best topped with both!

Heavenly Red Velvet Cake

Red velvet cake holds a very special place in my husband’s heart. It was the last birthday cake his mother made him just weeks before we went to be with the Lord. Knowing this, I have searched far and wide and manipulated countless recipes to create a superb red velvet cake. I believe that I have finally hit the nail straight on the head with this recipe.
