Loving a Life of Biblical Womanhood
I found this video on Courtney’s blog while blog hopping. I found it fascinating, and Rachel Ray’s reaction to it rather interesting. There isn’t a thing Courtney said with which I disagree. She kind of summed up a good portion of my philosophy on homemaking/wifely-ness in a short little clip.
I had my day and my week planned down to the minute. My home ran like a well oiled machine. Things would interrupt that smooth operation — an out of town trip, the early stages of garden growing when you have to be outside tending the garden constantly, a night with no sleep and a cranky child — but for the most part, it was all good. For three years I excelled at the housekeeping part of homemaking.
Homemaking is a job. It requires full time attention. It encompasses a huge amount of responsibility from maintaining a clean home, doing laundry, cooking, caring for children, caring for the spouse, gardening, preserving, etc. etc. For some of us, it also includes homeschooling.
When a light bulb burns out and you have to replace it, it is the perfect time to do some quick deep cleaning in an area of the house that is easily missed.
Artists and homemakers, prepare to be inspired. Schaeffer transfers domestic tasks into masterpieces of creative expression-whether she’s filling the house with flowers, music, and literature, building a toy rocking horse from scratch, dipping homemade candles, and more in this timeless classic.
I love the change in seasons. As summer ends and the mornings cool, the leaves change colors and school routines fall in place, my mind turns to — seasonal housekeeping!
