In the Right Place at God’s Time

streetLeaving for church last night, as I started down my street, I saw two little girls and a little toddler boy walking up the sidewalk. Something about them wasn’t right. They looked wrong. So, I stopped the car and rolled the window down. They were right in front of my house at that point and I was two doors down. One of the girls turned toward my car and started toward me. I got out of the car and said, “Are you okay?”

She said, “I can’t wake up my daddy, and we’re looking for Kendall’s house. She lives here somewhere.”

Just Feed One

I am so busy this week. It’s non-stop, every single day and night, culminating in Kaylee’s Sweet 16 Birthday Party Friday night.

My to-do list would scare the sane. I have two cookbooks coming out in the next two months, a fiction book that has “something” not quite right plot-wise and is going to require just a gutting and story-boarding, party planning/food prep/cleaning, learning how to make cake-pops, meetings, volunteerism, and life.

A Testimony & Carbon Monoxide

There was no reason for me to smell gas – ten minutes after calling the company, there was absolutely no natural gas in the air. I believe, since you can’t smell carbon monoxide, that God was warning me about the dangerous levels in a way that would get my attention. Smell gas, call the gas company, someone arrives with a meter to read the air. Attention got, message received, thank You, God.

I’m Angry

Our church, like churches for a couple millenia, has gone through a split. Someone got angry about something – felt offended by something, people started talking, stirring up strife, and before you knew it, 60 families left the church. It happens. We’re human. We get offended — and we offend. It’s just one of those quirky things about a societal way of life.

From Beginning to End

Almost exactly four years ago, I determined I would read the Bible through – starting in Genesis and ending in Revelation, from Old Testament to New Testament, in order.

Despite being raised in the church and being a Christian for most of my adult life, I’d never done that before. I’ve read a lot of some of the books of the Bible, but some of them I’d never even opened. I’ve faithfully attended several services a week in churches all over the country most of my life, and heard sermons preached from several different books of the Bible, but, again, some books were never opened.

The Faith Element

Oh, but the story is a GOOD story. GOOD. GOOD. This is the kind of story that a reader would totally devour.

At my book signing, we were all standing around talking about it. I explained that looked at it and looked at it and thought, it’s a good story, it can be cleaned up, but I honestly don’t know that a faith element would add to the book. So, maybe I’ll just make it a “clean” romance and publish it like that.

Everyone encouraged me and said it was a great idea.

My First Book Signing

I had my first book signing on Saturday at Bethany Book Room for the paperback release of Sapphire Ice. It was so much fun. I was incredibly apprehensive leading up to it, but I am not a “small talk” kind of person. I’m great in a chat room or an instant message window – but not at networking and socializing. So, going into it was a little bit nerve wracking. Until that morning when I sought strength and found this verse:

I can do all things through Christ[a] who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13

Lies Women Believe About Emotions

They are just feelings — dark thoughts that spring forward when my hormones rage. I don’t ask for them. I don’t want them. I don’t seek them. I don’t even think about it the rest of the month. It just comes upon me out of nowhere – hits me upside the head, and for about 72 hours I struggle, desperately, to not let them surface and to not let anyone know how utterly destructive and how terribly desolate I feel.
