The “Daddy Bear” – that thing gets hauled all over the place and is slept with like this every night. The front of the ACU shirt says, “Greetings from Sharana” (Afghanistan) His daddy will be home Saturday. :-)

One weekend before deployment, Gregg had a weekend pass and I was sick. He disappeared into the kitchen and came out with the most amazing sandwich. I’ve been trying to duplicate it ever since.

Despite the convenience of this glowing screen in front of me to communicate in an instant, or within a minute or fourteen minutes with my husband, there is still absolutely nothing like receiving a letter in the mail.

It’s awesome. If I’m thinking about something and I’m driving, I can just give him a quick call and have a one-sided conversation. The kids call and tell him goodnight or good morning. If I want to just have some connection with him, I call and listen to his voice on the message then leave him a message.
