While most of us struggle to conquer our junk food cravings, Hallee Bridgeman and her family seem to be on the other side of the spectrum. The Hallee the Homemaker blogger chooses to feed her family a strict Levitical diet and prepares all meals from scratch. Hallee may be a pro at whipping up nutritious grub, but what is most important to her is making sure her kids understand the “why” to healthy foods. Find out how Hallee’s 4-year-old son became an expert wheat-grinder and why her teen daughter actually prefers the junk-free snack selection at home.

Yesterday, I planned to make hamburgers. But, my afternoon got away from me and I didn’t get the buns made in time. While I thought about what to do, it occurred to me that I don’t want to spend the next 8 weeks eating beef hot dogs and hamburgers. I figured, why not just make a meal and serve it on paper plates?
Pin ItI think all of my years in corporate America has my mind conditioned to where I’m more productive and where I’m not. I’ve tried writing at the dining room table, and I’ve tried sitting on my couch and working, but I have always worked best at my desk. That’s one of the reasons that makes it hard to work when it’s just me and the boys. My office is removed from the rooms where they’re more likely to play, and I’m not very comfortable with that.
Pin ItThat is the plan as of now. If my daily schedule works (and we never know what will actually work until we implement it), then this will be easy to maintain. School starts for Kaylee the 9th of August, and for the boys, the 15th of August, so this may not actually kick into high gear until September (though my personal plan is to shoot for August).
Pin ItAn opportunity for a part time job recently came across my radar. (About which a friend said to me, “Why? Because you aren’t busy enough?) I considered it not because I need a job nor because I’m looking for work. I considered it because it sounded like fun. It would be easy, part time work. The kind of thing that would be a dream to a mom who had kids in school and who didn’t really need to earn a lot of money.
In July, I’m going to bring you an interview I’m doing with a friend who had serious behavior and attitude problems with a preschooler, and through a series of total lifestyle changes, has seen amazing improvements in listening, attitude, and overall countenance. I can’t wait to let you meet her and hear about what she did.
As I’ve been preparing this interview, it occurred to me that YOU might have a story, too. If you do, would you allow me to interview you? You can either comment here and I can email you from the comment, or you can email me directly at hallee@halleethehomemaker.com.
Pin ItI am excited to get Hallee the Homemaker back up to what it was before I took a (desperately needed) semi-break. The ideas for posts just come and come — I simply haven’t had the time to actually focus and concentrate and put things together. If we can get me through the summer months (where my “free” time will have to continue to be spent focusing on the next book coming out rather than blogging) then we’ll be back up and rolling!
