This song is Gregg’s alarm clock. Every morning at 7:00, Kari Jobe’s voice would fill our room. It was a beautiful thing to wake up to, my husband’s arms wrapped around me, listening to this amazing worship song. It made God’s holiness our first thought asnd set the tone for our day.
I read in a marriage book one time to be careful with whom you share your marital problems, because it’s very easy to update friends on the problems, but we tend to forget to update on the progress. If you’re like me, you can sit there and think of friends who seem to constantly trash talk their husbands, but who rarely praise them for anything good they’ve done.

I make all of my bread homemade. About a month into making this commitment, it occurred to me that yeast, the way I was purchasing it, isn’t cheap. On sale, it seems like I could find the three-envelops of yeast for about $1.10. One loaf of bread, one batch of buns, one patch of pita bread, two pizza doughs — all of those take one envelope of yeast.I make all of my bread homemade. There was a time in our marriage when there was little trust between me and Gregg. I’d say one thing and he wouldn’t believe it. He’d say another thing and I wouldn’t believe it. It was a very dark time in our lives, and even typing about it and thinking about itelicits a bit of an emotional reaction in my heart.

There’s a woman I know who is young – maybe 21-years-old or even younger. She has three children by three men and has never been married. She lives with her mother. Her current boyfriend does not live with her, but he does spend the night often. She gambles regularly. And, she is deeply spiritual. You won’t find someone who talks about Jesus Christ more than her.
We exist in a culture that seems to set out to make our children into adults earlier and earlier in their life. They are bombarded with messages and images that cry out to them to leave childhood behind and make adult decisions, to dress like adults, to act like adults.

It is hard to find a good bean recipe that doesn’t contain pork of any kind. Even buying canned beans, you have to read the label carefully to make sure that it’s pork-free. It’s nice to find a slow cooked bean recipe that is just beans and seasoning.

Gregg and I rarely fight. I’m very passive, and he and I pretty much agree on most things, so there isn’t a lot left to fight about. We’ve had our moments, and our marriage had a really rough year at one point, but for the most part, there has been little fighting.
