Greek Stuffed Vegetables with Rice (Yemista me Ryzi)

This is an amazing recipe for making something new and different with all of that fresh produce coming out of the garden. You are getting such a wide variety of fresh vegetables, all kinds of good for your body vitamins and minerals, and is something different from the standard sauteing that I tend to do as a default.

Announcing…Squash Week!

Because I have an over-abundance of squash, I’ve been playing with all different kinds of squash recipes. I’ve dubbed next week “Squash Week!” Not quite as exciting as Shark Week, but way more practical to my readers.

THE Body Image Talk

My sister, Misty, is the managing editor of her West Virginia town’s newspaper. She has been writing columns for her paper for years – sharing her family and her life, making the mundane day-to-day life sound interesting and exciting, bringing the readers of her paper into her home and making them feel like a part of the family. She is an amazing writer, and I have long hoped that she would want to write for us. She is married to Mike and has three amazing children, Hal (who is 9), Jamye (who is 7), and Jackson (who is 3).

Easy Homemade Bathroom Cleaner

I found a really complicated recipe – three different kinds of essential oils, a soap, some household products. Seemed like a science experiment. The next place I looked, I saw one that had two simple ingredients. I thought I’d try that one first, for the ease of the simplicity. I figured if I didn’t like it, I could start getting more complicated.

Baby Wearing

We didn’t take our stroller with us, because the trip was impromptu. Thankfully, though, I had my Ergo in the back of the van. Scott walked or was carried by Gregg on his shoulders, and Johnathan alternated between walking and being worn by me in the Ergo. About an hour after we got there, we saw an Imax movie and the boys both fell asleep. Scott woke up as soon as the movie was over, but I just turned the Ergo around to my front and carried Jeb in it while he slept.

Menu Monday 04 JUL 2011

Here’s the menu for my family for the week of July 4th. As far as desserts go, we’re going to make some Traditional Sugar Cookies cut out in star shapes for the Independence Day holiday. I’m also going to try some desserts that incorporate squash — because I have a plethora of squash and want to do something other than saute it. We’re leaving for Glen Eden Youth Center on Friday, so I’ll be making some granola bars and cookies to take with us for snacking there.
