Hallee’s Healthy Pleasurable Pizza Pie: Hawaiin Pineapple & Turkey Ham

Healthy Pleasurable Hawaiian Pineapple & Turkey Ham Pizza Pie

In my parents’ hometown, there’s a pizza parlor called “Papa’s Pizza.”  In the middle of the restaurant sits an organ, and a blind man used to play the organ there.  We went to Papa’s for any special occasion, and whenever large groups of family were in town.  It was where my brother got the high score on Pac Man and my little sister, not even able to see the screen, plugged a quarter into Centipede and by chance got the high score.

My favorite favorite pizza at Papa’s was their Hawaiian pizza: Canadian bacon, pineapple, and fresh tomato.

This is my variation of it.  I love turkey ham and pineapple as much as I loved Papa’s Hawaiian pizza.

This recipe yields about 8 good slices with less than 300 calories per slice (277), a whopping 16.3 grams of protein, 36.4 grams of carbs, 7.1 grams of fat and less than half from saturated fat, 5.2 grams of fiber, and lots of vitamin C.

Pineapple contains an enzyme that helps break down protein, which means you can absorb more protein into your muscles where protein needs to go to burn fat. A good turkey ham is a great tasting and healthy alternative to pork and the flavor combination with the pineapple is certainly a classic. Be sure to look for a brand of turkey ham that contains no pork products.

And, be sure to use my easy and delicious whole-wheat pizza crust.
