3 Chores You Should Do Every Morning

I accomplish these tasks before I even pour my first cup of coffee in the morning. These three chores will take less than 10 minutes out of your entire morning, but they will make a world of difference in how your home feels, and will help set the tone for the entire day.

The Garden – Week 3

It’s all starting to happen this week. Lots of progress has been made, but there’s still work to do every day. Here’s the view of the big garden – the shadow of the house is annoying. Sorry about that. I didn’t take the picture until Wednesday morning, when I have been taking them Tuesday evening:

Giveaway: Real Food on a Real Budget

When Stephanie Langford of Keeper of the Home emailed me and asked me to review her new book, Real Food on a Real Budget How to Eat Healthy for Less, I’ll admit that I was a little apprehensive. As a writer affiliated with writerly things, I’ve never been a big fan of self-published works. There’s often something to be said for a professional editing job.

Worth It All

I don’t know what time Johnathan was born. Before 9AM, I think. He was 6lbs, 7oz, and 19 inches long. Those extra 6 weeks he got beefed him up compared to his brother’s 3-pounder birth. Menu Monday 24 May 2010

Here’s the menu for my family for the week of May 24th. I am entering week 2 of combining the strict following of the Abs Diet for Women menu plan (well, strict in the sense of measurements, less strict in the sense of how it’s prepared and seasoned) performing the Walking the Walk: Getting Fit With Faith journal and exercise regimen, pulling some meals from there when I’m faced with shellfish or pork in the Abs Diet menu. Other than a Saturday night banquet where I indulged in my weakness, cake, I did good last week. Let’s ignore the fact that I have to make chocolate cupcakes for a birthday party today.

The Power of a Praying Wife: Chapter 3 – His Finances

Finances are always a tough topic in a marriage. Other than sex, it is probably the largest topic of discord in most husband and wife relationships. The problem is that most people feel uncomfortable talking about money. Talks about money can slide into arguments about who spent what on lunch, who promised too much to charity, who should have been saving more, and who makes the most. The thing is, money is a necessary factor in life and talking about money is a necessary factor in a marriage.

My Favorite Cleaning Day

Thursdays are my favorite cleaning day by far. Mondays are a scramble to get our main living areas back in order after a weekend of no chores. Tuesdays are bathrooms and the boys’ room – I don’t think I need to say more. But Thursdays – Thursdays I clean my kitchen.
