Thursdays are my favorite cleaning day by far.  Mondays are a scramble to get our main living areas back in order after a weekend of no chores.  Tuesdays are bathrooms and the boys’ room – I don’t think I need to say more.  But Thursdays – Thursdays I clean my kitchen.

When I’m done, the stainless steel shines.  The cupboards smell faintly of Murphy’s Oil Soap.  The windows sparkle.  And the floor is a vast expanse with no muddy paw prints, no Army soldiers waiting to be stepped on, no pieces of dogfood spread by a rambunctious puppy.

It’s in perfect order.  Nothing is out of place.

It feels good, it smells good, and it’s clean.

It makes me want to dirty it up again.

To get my counters dirty and let something splatter onto the stovetop.

To create.
