Menu Monday 21 Dec 2009
The “rules” of our household diet: About every two to three hours between meals, we eat healthy snacks like fruit, nuts, yogurt, or a smoothie. We avoid any pork and any bottom feeders like catfish and shellfish. We avoid artificial sweeteners and unhealthy toxins such as those in preservatives.
One meal a week, we eat whatever we want. This is usually our “Dinner Out” meal.
If I have any leftovers, I usually serve them for lunch the next day, or we’ll save them during the week to graze lunch on the weekends.
Almost all of the breads are homemade – I’ll continue to link to my recipes as I post them.
This is the last week before Christmas, and I’ll be preparing to go out of town for several days. Two things are going to be different because of that: (1) I am going to be doing different breakfasts so that I can do a “Christmas Breakfast Ideas” post; and (2) the meals toward the end of the week will be very simple with little chance of leftovers. We are leaving 4AM Thursday morning, so my menu will end with Wednesday.
Here’s the menu plan for my family for the week of Monday, December 21st. As far as desserts go, we will be repeating a lot of the desserts from the last two weeks as I put together the final gift plates for doctors and dentists and neighbors.
Monday:
Breakfast:
Dinner:
Cornish hens, wild rice, asparagus
Tuesday:
Breakfast:
Dinner:
Wednesday:
Breakfast:
baked apples in pastry (I’m sure there’s some ‘name’ for these, and I’ll come up with something — apple dumplings, maybe?),
Dinner:
pizza, salad
Thursday:
Breakfast:
IF I get it premade, turkey sausage patties and buttermilk biscuits with banana on the road.
Dinner:
at my parents’ house!!
