retro-cooking Menu Monday 28 Sep 2009

The “rules” of our household diet: About every two to three hours between meals, we eat healthy snacks like fruit, nuts, yogurt, or a smoothie. We avoid any pork and any bottom feeders like catfish and shellfish. We avoid artifical sweeteners, like Splenda, Aspartame, and High Fructose Corn Syrup and unhealthy toxins like trans fatty acids and MSG.

But, one meal a week, we eat whatever we want. This is usually our “Dinner Out” meal. This past weekend, we traveled and ate fast food three times, so there will be no “Dinner Out” meal this week.

I don’t typically have room in my menu for leftovers. If I have any, I usually serve them for lunch the next day, or we’ll save them during the week to graze lunch on the weekends.

Almost all of the breads are homemade – I’ll add links to recipes as I post them.

Here’s my menu plan for the week of 28 September 2009 for my family. As far as desserts go, I’m going to make a peach cobbler from the yummy peaches my sister gave me yesterday, and I’m going to do some sort of cupcakes for the boys to decorate.
