You get to see my weedy garden in this garden update. I have spent hours in the garden since returning from vacation. This is what it looked like when we got home:
So, while it may seem like I need to weed, be impressed with what I accomplished (HA!).
I cannot believe that 9 weeks have passed since I did a garden update!
I have been so busy with book releases and writing that gardening got put off to just now. Since we’re on vacation next week, I needed to just stop everything this week and get the garden planted.
We have a plot at our church. This is the first time we’ve done that, and I’m LOVING the size of my plot!
Pin ItI haven’t always been afraid of spiders. My mother is and always has been, but they never really scared me. At least, until my senior year of high school, when my friend, Robbie, took me to see the movie Arachnophobia. That movie scared me.
I no longer have a smaller garden, a corn garden, and a main garden – everything has been merged into one big “L” shaped garden.
Three sisters is a Native American gardening technique called “intercropping”. Three plants – corn, squash, and beans – are planted together and work together. The green bean crawls up the corn stalk and uses it as a pole, nourishing the soil at its roots with nitrogen nodules in its roots, and the squash grows along the base of the corn and beans, providing ground cover to retain moisture and prevent weed growth.
