Critical Thinking: Formal Fallacies

An argument is called “valid” when it’s form is correct and does not lend to a mistake in reasoning due to a faulty structure. An argument is deemed “cogent” when its form is valid and its premises are sound. In logic, “valid” means that if the premises are true, the conclusion is also true. A fallacy can occur when the form is adulterated to reach a false conclusion.

Critical Thinking: Sound Reasoning

The main division between forms of reasoning is between deductive reasoning and inductive reasoning. Formal logic has been described as ‘the science of deduction’ while inductive reasoning is generally carried out within the field of informal logic. Both are vital and important tools in the disciplined work of thinking.

Critical Thinking: Critics Welcome!

A great deal of the content of this website is dedicated to information pertaining to physical and spiritual needs. Hopefully, that provides some insight into how we, as parents, meet the needs of our children in those two very often overlooked areas. Keeping things in balance, we wanted to offer some insight into the most overlooked area, that being how we choose to meet their intellectual needs, as well.

Creation: Micro-Evolution=Changes Within Kind

In plain English, micro-evolution is what happens when, say for example, corn pollinates and makes slightly different corn in the next generation of … corn. Or when dogs interbreed and make a different breed of dog. Or when human beings have human babies. In other words, it isn’t even evolution. It is simply modification within kind, also called change within kind, also called variation within kind.

Creation: Darwinian Engines of Evolution

Darwinists scrambled for “engines” that would “drive” Darwinian evolution. This is admittedly an attempt to skew the odds to make their idiotic theory somewhat plausible by compensating for finite time and matter in the universe.

Even supposing the universe is 15 billion years old, that is a finite amount of seconds in which an infinite amount of changes must occur for Darwinism to be true. Even supposing the earth is 4 billion or so years old, a single cell has to assemble itself from dirt and rocks and such by an undirected, unguided, random process –and for that simple single cell to appear, a nearly infinite number of random occurrences must take place in order, without error. The best estimates put it at a greater than 1 in 10 to the 100,000,000,000th power chance.
