Little Helpers

The first time Kaylee ever kneeded dough, she still had a pacifier in her mouth (I wish I could find that picture.) That made her younger than 3. Now, at 13, she can make anything. She can read just about any recipe, follow the instructions, and create. I let her cook without restraint, and have, just this year, started letting her cook even if I’m not home.

The Power of a Praying Wife: Chapter 7 – His Mind

The first thing that attracted me to Gregg was his mind. Before we met in person, we had known each other online for two years as part of a writers’ group. This group was supposed to be about writing, but writers like to read what they write, so it was a prolific bunch. We discussed everything from writing to politics to religion. After 9-11, it really exploded with talking and writing, and it wasn’t unusual to get 400-500 emails a day. Gregg and I are very similarrily minded when it comes to religion and politics, so we “bonded” intellectually long before we met. However, that bonding never went beyond the discussions to anything personal simply because I was married. The first time we ever had a private conversation, I was already separated from my husband.

Seeds of Faith

I am so excited to be one of the newest members of the Seeds of Faith team! I will be contributing regularly under the label “Writing Worth Reading.” I decided to serialize 5 Conversations You Must Have with Your Daughter as my first project there. My first post will appear Sunday, July 11th, and will be on chapter 1.

Comfort Food Meatloaf

Meatloaf is one of my favorite dishes, if I prepare it or if my mother prepares it. I’ve learned not to order it in restaurants or get it off of buffets, because a lot of people do something to it that I just don’t do – but I’m not sure what that is. I’ve always used green peppers when I make it, but I didn’t have any the day I made it for these pictures, so I used yellow peppers. I LOVED the difference. I will from now on use yellow peppers to make my meatloaf.

The Garden – Week 9

Things are really going to pick up with harvesting the garden in the next couple of weeks. We’re already getting cucumbers and green beans with daily regularity. I’ll be posting my process for cold packing dill pickles as soon as I get to the store to get some dill (because my herb garden was such a disappointment this year.)
