The Perfect Solution for Freezing Broth

I make my own broth.  I make chicken broth, Tasty Turkey Broth, beef broth, just about any kind of broth I can manage.

Several months ago, I made a big batch of beef broth.  I put big soup bones in the crock pot, threw in a bunch of root veggies and some fresh herbs, and let it cook for 36 hours.  Then I strained it and had 4 quarts of beautiful, flavorful, so healthy and good for you beef broth.

What now?

Because I shop every few months and had just recently been shopping, I don’t have a lot of freezer storage space.  For some reason, I didn’t have any freezer bags.  I could have used mason jars, but they would take up so much room in my freezer.

Then I had an epiphany.

Breast milk freezer bags.

  1. They are marked with measurements.
  2. They are double-bagged.
  3. They are designed to store liquid in the freezer.

I proceeded to fill 16 bags with one cup each of this amazing beef broth.  Now, when I want to use it, I just pop a bag out of the freezer and let it thaw.

A perfect solution.  A bit unconventional, but I’m okay with that.
