Blog Award: Kreativ Blogger

My friend Heather at Out of the Box, Into the Kitchen recently recognized me as a Kreativ Blogger.

I had been pondering blog awards and their meanings in recent days — how I see them and feel about them versus how my readers may perceive them. This particular award inspired me to do a lot of homework. Pictured above is the original Kreativ Blogger award. It turns out that it was first started in May of 2008 by a Norwegian lady named Hulda. Her site may be a bit challenging unless you read some Norwegian. I discovered that this original design is a photograph of a craft she made entirely from fabric scraps. How cool is that?

Hulda gave it to her sister and three other blogging friends whom she felt were very creative and said if they wanted to pass it on they were free to do so. There were no strings attached, no “rules” or chain letter like questionnaire, except that she said [translated], “It is nice if you justify why you think this person is a creative blog[ger], when you give it further.” Since then, creativity with respect to this blog award has been interpreted to be not only in the fields of arts and crafts but also blog design, photography, writing, and (of course) cooking.

Just under two years after it started, Kreativ Blogger has been through several iterations and transformations. In the common “Pink wallpaper” design, and queen of hearts design, someone tacked on the word “award” to make it sound more official.

I really enjoyed learning the history of Kreativ Blogger and I am so very pleased to have been nominated for it by my friend Heather. She is a great friend who I have known online for quite sometime. Heather is on a journey to get “out of the box” by getting rid of all processed foods and getting back into the kitchen, where she prepares meals from fresh whole food ingredients. I encourage you to check her blog. She is truly a neat lady and a good friend.

I am very pleased, honored, and excited to accept this, my sixth blog award. I have to thank my husband, my children, and all my friends for keeping the great ideas coming and for keeping me fresh and on my toes. But mostly, I have to thank God for His hand on my every day life. He is on the throne and in control and through Him all things are possible and to Him all glory and all honor is due.
