Commissary Day
Today is Commissary Day!
Why does it sound like an event to go grocery shopping?
Because it IS an event. It’s over a two-hour drive to get to the commissary from our house, so I shop about every three months (other than my weekly grocery trip for dairy and produce). I will shop for about 6 hours and when I’m done, I will have what I need for all of my holiday baking, and should get our household through the New Year.
I’ve been preparing shopping lists and menu plans and printing coupons and organizing my thoughts about it all.
When I get home, I’ll post my strategy in mass grocery shopping, my savings shopping this way, and other fun things about it (including how long my receipt is – we’ve hit the seven-foot mark before.)
Have a wonderful day! I look forward to Commissary Day for weeks!

Sounds like fun and just a little bit daunting! I do a Sam’s run once a month, but I would love to know the ins and outs of doing a big run once every three months!
Ditto the above post! (Except we do Costco)
I would love to go less and be more efficient while I am there. I tend to impulse buy at Costco too…especially when Holiday stuff is out!
