Bread and butter pickles are an absolute favorite of mine. They’re kind of a savory/sweet combination that only a pickle can achieve. This recipe is straight from the Ball Book of Home Preserving. I consider Ball the the foremost expert on all things preserving and will almost always refer to them to answer any questions pertaining to preserving.

I recently saw a blogger comment that her cleaning lady used vinegar to clean her floors, but it made her house smell like a pickle factory.
Pin ItThis seems to make a huge salad, but when I ate it for lunch, it was a perfect portion. The crunch of the apples and the sweetness of the dried cranberries combined with the balsamic vinegar makes such a beautiful flavor combination. It is a delicious lunch.
Pin ItI saw this recipe on GNOWFGLINS’ blog. This is a soaked wheat recipe – you soak the wheat overnight in an acid (in this case, apple cider vinegar) so that the phytic acid in the grain is broken down and your body is able to absorb all of the nutrients in the grain. I made this to take to Sunday School for breakfast. I worried that they would be heavy, dense, but they were amazing. They were so light, and melt-in-your-mouth. The original recipe is called “biscuits” but, they seemed more like a scone than a biscuit. They were SO good. My pictures are showing me making a double-batch to accommodate the Sunday School class.
Pin ItI much prefer making my mayonnaise fresh at home. Obviously, it saves money, but the main advantage is in the taste. Home made is not loaded with chemicals and preservatives.
Pin ItThis spicy salsa is perfect as a snack with chips or as a topper for your favorite Mexican dish.
Pin ItThis light, healthful infused vinegar that goes very well on cranberry walnut salad, feta romaine salad, or even just on greens. The light vinegar brings out the sweetness of the raspberry flavor even more. And, it’s really super easy. Enjoy!
