While I was doing a regular shopping excursion to Whole Foods, I went to the bulk food aisle to get what I needed to make homemade granola bars. The price of the blueberries gave me pause. $13.99 per pound. Wow. That seemed extreme. Then I remembered that I had that unused dehydrator sitting on the shelf.

I was due to post a garden post last week, but we had Squash Week! while I was out of pocket instead. So, it’s been a few weeks since you’ve seen pictures.
The above quote very effectively sums up what I hear most often when addressing the idea of wives respecting their husbands the same way that husbands are to love their wives. I don’t know why we accept the fact that they must unconditionally love us, but a wall goes up when considering an unconditional respect.

Here’s the menu for my family for the week of July 18th. This is Gregg’s last week home. As far as desserts go, I’m going to re-attempt the red velvet cheesecake. I’m also going to make some Whole Wheat Dark Chocolate Chip Cookies.

As much as I enjoyed going through that book with you, I understand that not all of us are mothers of girls, and not all of us are mothers. But, as this is a site for Christian Women, we are mostly women. As such, I’ve decided that the next series in our Writing Worth Reading category should focus simply on womanhood, on being a woman.

I graduated from Spencer High School, home of the mighty Greenwave. Don’t ask me what that means – in all of my years there, I was never able to figure that out. Our mascot was an owl. BUT, our colors were green & gold. That was always cool, because my family is from Springfield, Oregon, a small town that is a sister-city to Eugene Oregon, home of the Oregon Ducks – whose colors are also green & gold. Which is what makes this casserole so much fun. I could take it to a class reunion or a football party and be a winner either way.

These were SOOOO yummy. And, such a nice break from a zucchini bread kind of sweet with squash. Gregg said that it was too sweet, but I gave him a large piece. When I cut the piece sizes to about the size of fudge, they were the perfect size.

This colorful salad can be a nice change of pace from the traditional Coastal Cole Slaw type salad. You can use zucchini or yellow squash. It is perfect for the summer picnic, because there is no mayonnaise in it.

This is an amazing recipe for making something new and different with all of that fresh produce coming out of the garden. You are getting such a wide variety of fresh vegetables, all kinds of good for your body vitamins and minerals, and is something different from the standard sauteing that I tend to do as a default.
