A Plea for Ideas

Yesterday, I steamed cleaned my couch. Doesn’t it look great?
Now look at this angle.
That’s toothpaste. Those of you who know me personally 0n Facebook may remember The Great Toothpaste Incident of 2010. I thought letting it dry and then scrubbing it off with a brush would be the best idea.
Bad idea.
It’s been scrubbed, wiped, cleaned, and now steam cleaned. This is over the course of a few weeks.
Anyone have this experience? Any ideas?
Hallee

Yikes…I figured you would have gotten that out already! Have you ever tried using some warm water with Oxi-Clean? I’ve found that that works the best for me in taking stains out. Not sure how it would work on a couch, but I guess its worth a try? Good luck!!
It’s not so much a stain as the toothpaste is now cement.
I wonder if Oxi-Clean would break down the cementing process?
no ideas….but i love how Jeb looks so proud in that second picture! goodluck!
WD-40 and a stiff brush may work, but test it on the back of the couch or somewhere that doesn’t show to make sure it won’t wreck your couch.
Blogging is so nice for moms. We get to see that our chaos isn’t strange, that our kids’ messes aren’t unusual. What did the pioneer women do?
HAHA! I don’t know – good question!
What material exactly is that? If it’s a cloth, rather than suede, use a mild detergent. The toothpaste likely contains titanium dioxide which isn’t exactly water soluble, you’ll need a detergent (like plain, blue Dawn dish soap ) to bring the residue into solution to get it off of the fiber.
Good luck with it.
What about goo gone?? Have you tried that?
Use an iron to warm it up and then wipe it off?
no ideas but I would be crying if that were my couch
See here everyone posted some good cleaning ideas…me? Well I would go cry in the corner, pray…then head out to my nearest department store…not for a new couch. But for a lovely and beautiful throw blanket that would be draped just so and dramatically for affect.
Glad I could help :)
God Bless and Hugs,
Angel
HAHA!
I would be so frustrated and upset if it were me but as someone on the outside looking the hand prints are perfect.
Not for nothing, I have slipcovers that I can throw in the washing machine. LOL
I know! All of that cleaning and scrubbing that I’ve done hasn’t even smeared the hand prints – HAHA!
*sigh*
You know what gets ANYTHING out? Baby wipes… seriously it got blood off my suede chair. I’d try that before WD-40.
I have no idea!
I would probably try mixing oxy-clean into a paste with water, and maybe letting it sit?
My boys haven’t realized how much fun toothpaste could be… I think I might go find a lock to put on the bath room cabinet now….
