Cajun Style Beef Wrap

Posted by Hallee on Sep 1, 2011 in American Quisine, entrees, Hallee's Galley, Recipes, Snacks

I love this wrap, because using steak as a meat in it gives lunch a little facelift from the normal turkey or tuna. This is a great source of protein, which helps Kaylee get through her day since she eats lunch at 10:30 in the morning. It tastes fantastic, and is packed full of all sorts of good vitamins and minerals.

Tip: Saving Money On Yeast

Posted by Hallee on Oct 26, 2010 in Hallee's Galley, kitchen & cooking tips, Stewardship

I make all of my bread homemade. About a month into making this commitment, it occurred to me that yeast, the way I was purchasing it, isn’t cheap. On sale, it seems like I could find the three-envelops of yeast for about $1.10. One loaf of bread, one batch of buns, one patch of pita bread, two pizza doughs — all of those take one envelope of yeast.I make all of my bread homemade. Wonderful Whole Wheat Sopapillas

Posted by Hallee on May 5, 2010 in Breads, Breakfast, Hallee's Galley, Holiday fare, Recipes

I have a good friend who asked me to make whole wheat sopapillas, so I’ve been researching recipes. I finally came up with one that will please all of us “real food” minded mamas. Sopapilla means “little pillow” and can be used in a savory dish much like a tortilla or a pita bread. For this dish, I used them as a breakfast bread and drizzled them with honey. They were beyond amazing. A wonderful breakfast to kick of a Cinco de Mayo celebration.

Whole Wheat Flour Tortillas

Posted by Hallee on Mar 11, 2010 in Breads, Hallee's Galley, Mexican, Recipes

I don’t know why I’ve always been intimidated to make flour tortillas. I make corn tortillas all the time. But, maybe I thought that getting the right texture would be hard. This was my first attempt at flour tortillas, and they were perfect. They felt right, they handled right, and they tasted wonderful. I’m so pleased.

Granny Everman’s Yeast Rolls

Posted by Hallee on Aug 27, 2009 in Breads, Hallee's Galley, Recipes

These rolls are a favorite whenever they are served. My husband’s cousin Patti usually makes them in large batches for the youth camp we support every year. They are light and delicious and keep well for days.
