30 Days of Thankfulness Day 8

Posted by Hallee on Nov 8, 2013 in Christian Faith, holiness, inspiration

As I’ve worked on this list of 30 things for which I’m thankful, I’ve found that I often quote Bible verses to elaborate on the subject. That’s when it occurred to me that I’m extremely grateful for the gift of God’s word.

All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16-17

I believe that the Bible is the inerrant word of God, that He used the Holy Spirit to move men to write the Bible, (2 Peter 1:21) and that it is a living, breathing document that is always relevant. I think that with any situation in my entire life, I can find where the Bible will speak to me. I believe that the “Old” Testament is just as important as the “New” Testament. I believe that the Word of God is a weapon against evil (Ephesians 6:17).

30 Days of Thankfulness Day 7

Posted by Hallee on Nov 7, 2013 in Blog Stuff, Christian Faith, inspiration, Writing

1 Peter 4:10 tells us that God, through His grace, has given each of us gifts, and wants us to use those gifts to minister to one another. I am so grateful that He has given me the gift of storytelling.

Whether it’s a full length novel of Christian romantic suspense or a blog post about parenting a special needs child, I am able to entertain, engage, or enlighten. God determined that my ministry would be the written word, and for years now, I have I given of it freely, using it to minister to the world.

30 Days of Thankfulness Day 5

Posted by Hallee on Nov 5, 2013 in Christian Faith, Family, inspiration, Parenting, Raising boys

At 5, Jeb is our absolute joy. I don’t say that to take anything away from our other children, but Jeb is just…joy. He is highly emotional and has a happy nature, which means he is almost always just bubbling over with happiness. A friend at church says often that she wishes she could capture his laugh and just have it throughout her day.

30 Days of Thankfulness Day 2

Despite the fact that neither one of us were looking for a relationship when we met, within a day of meeting Gregg in person, he and I were talking about marriage. Forget the fact that I was recently separated from my husband of nearly 10 years, forget the fact that it was 3 short months after 9/11 and Gregg was in a Special Forces unit about to deploy, forget the fact that he lived 354 miles away from my house — we KNEW we would be married.

Jesus, Yeshua, God With Us

Posted by Hallee on Dec 17, 2012 in Christian Faith, holiness, inspiration

During the Christmas season, in many households and many communities, the focus is on Jesus — specifically on baby Jesus. While it’s exciting to think about God the Son becoming flesh and dwelling with us, we often focus so much on the infant child and forget the absolute magnitude of Jesus – Yeshua – God With Us. He is almighty and all powerful, and He IS the common thread sewn throughout the Bible.

Our church’s Christmas production focused on the power of the name of Jesus, and the following is pulled from that production. This is one of those that should be printed out and saved – a reminder of the glory of God and the Eternal presence of our Christ.

From Beginning to End

Posted by Hallee on Aug 29, 2012 in apologetics, Biblical womanhood, Christian Faith, holiness, inspiration

Almost exactly four years ago, I determined I would read the Bible through – starting in Genesis and ending in Revelation, from Old Testament to New Testament, in order.

Despite being raised in the church and being a Christian for most of my adult life, I’d never done that before. I’ve read a lot of some of the books of the Bible, but some of them I’d never even opened. I’ve faithfully attended several services a week in churches all over the country most of my life, and heard sermons preached from several different books of the Bible, but, again, some books were never opened.

Easter and Eostre

We aren’t going to judge or condemn what anyone else does anything different – from decorating Easter eggs to full blown gift giving bonanzas. Each family needs to make their own decisions and their own traditions for holidays. This is just how our family has decided to observe this, what is to us, the most holy and amazing of all holidays.

We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be?

Menu Monday 10 OCT 11 – Daniel Fast Week 1

Here’s the menu for my family for the week of October 10th. Last Wednesday night at church, our pastor called for us to begin a 40-day fast. Gregg and I prayed about it and decided that we would do a Daniel Fast. For the next few weeks, you will see a “vegan extreme” diet. We are consuming only fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, and drinking only water – no sugars, honey, syrups, nor leavened bread. Kaylee is observing her own form of this fast and will be abstaining from the sugars and the meat – she will be consuming dairy, however. The boys will be eating our meals with us, but will have some meat and will have dairy.

For lunches, we will be eating hummus with fresh vegetables, avocado and salsa in Ezekiell 4:9 tortillas (the only tortillas I could find with nothing in them but grains), salads, and unsweetened peanut butter with tortillas.

I pray that by sharing our journey with you, you will receiving a blessing from it.

Seeds of Faith: Lies Women Believe About God

Posted by Hallee on Sep 17, 2011 in Christian Faith, inspiration, Lies and Truth

By way of introduction to chapter 2 of of Lies Women Believe: And the Truth that Sets them Free by Nancy Leigh DeMoss (previously titled Walking in the Truth) “Lies Women Believe About God”, I think what Nancy said best says it:
