A friend’s blog post from this week inspired me to write this today. She blogged about taking over their family’s finances and looking forward to the coming year and seeing what she can do about emergency funds and vacation funds and such.

So, I’m going to play around with how I do things in my home, shift things around, bring homeschool down to three days a week, and see what I can do so that everything still gets done and I can still write as much as I need to and still give this blog all of the focus it needs.
There are people who clean their whole house every day, so that if company was coming, there would be little they would have to do to prepare. I’m not like that.
Today is for love and friendship and family and good food and realizing everything for which we have to be Thankful. It is also about thanking the right Person.
My friend Meg is guest posting today. Meg and I are very similar. We are both homemakers, we are both mothers of 3, we both value and desire a closer relationship with God. Listening to a Christian radio station several years ago, we heard a movie review followed by the tag line, “for more reviews, go to pluggedinonline.com.” I was sitting at my computer at the time and opened it up. As I did, one of my favorite resources as a parent opened onto my computer screen.
On this last day of October, children in the US will be carrying bags filled with sweets. Thinking of them can remind us to ask: “What is filling the vessel of my life? Is it a bitter attitude that leads to foolish disputes and strife, or is it a sweet spirit that leads to righteousness, faith, love, and peace?”
One of the first things she asked me was what I was doing. I told her I was a homemaker in a small town in Kentucky, married to the most amazing man in the world and mother to three absolutely wonderful children. Her reaction puzzled me and hurt me at the same time.
