Today I listened to John 18-Acts 2.
The part that stood out to me in that passage is this:
So, the other day, I had a BAD headache. Bad. I spent the day in bed. I also suffered the day with heart palpitations. The next day, my blood pressure was 160/110. That’s WAY.TOO.HIGH. I don’t know if the headache caused the blood pressure or if the blood pressure caused the headache. Either way, that’s too high.
If you told me I could only keep one single book from the entire Bible, I would be torn between the gospel according to John, and the book of Acts. Honestly, I think John is my favorite book.
I could spend 365 days this year telling you all of the things that stand out to me on that book. But, today I’ll just pick one, and go onto Acts tomorrow from there.
All week long, I’ve prepared Scott for the inevitable fact that he will wear a shirt and tie to school today. All week long he’s informed me that he will NOT wear a shirt and tie to school today.
This morning, I allowed 15 extra minutes and got out the clothes from which I would allow him to choose and he melted down. Clothes went everywhere. Tears fell. Beds were kicked. Pillows thrown. Choices given.
I had an immediate knee-jerk thought of, “I don’t really do that much,” but the words never really made it past my lips. Because, I really have a lot on my plate. So, the answer to her, “I don’t really know how you do it all,” is simply this: organization, delegation, and understanding limits.
Today, I listened to Luke 6 through Luke 11.
The part that stood out to me today was Luke 8:12, as Jesus explained the Parable of the Sower:
Those by the wayside are the ones who hear; then the devil comes and takes away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved.
Wayside is defined as the edge of the path.
What is the path? How can I, someone desperate to hear the word of God and obey the word of God, stay off of the wayside and remain on the path so that the word cannot be taken out of my heart?
