An Inspiration

Tuesday evening, I attended a women’s function at my church.  There were several people there — some I know and some I don’t.

As I was leaving, and older woman (like a great-grandma-aged older woman) went out the door at the same time as me.  I don’t know her, haven’t ever met her, but I recognize her.  She sits on the front row in the choir, and Gregg and I sit very close to the front of the church.

As we were in the parking lot alone, I gave some polite platitude and she grabbed me and hugged me and said, “You and your husband are such an inspiration to me.”

I said, “Inspiration?”

“Oh yes,” she said.  “I just love watching you two.  You fill my heart with such love and joy.”

I just grinned then.  We often get remarks similar to that.  I said, “Well, I love him.”

She nodded and said, “He seems like a wonderful man.”

I put my arms over her shoulder (I’m 5’11” and she was incredibly petite) and said, “But, the best part is that HE loves ME.”

The woman turned and grabbed my shoulders and said, “Oh, honey, there isn’t a person in the world who could see you two who wouldn’t think that man absolutely loves and adores you.  It’s in every single look and touch he gives you.  I love watching you.  You are an inspiration t0 everyone out there wondering if love is real.”

I thanked her and hugged her and we parted ways.

As I drove home, I was full of smiles and the warmth of love for my husband.

Have I mentioned lately how wonderful it is to have him HOME?
