Sometimes Little Things Make the World a Better Place
The other morning, Kaylee had a rough start. She slept in, she was absolutely exhausted from two away softball games in a row – getting her to bed well after 11:00 each night, and she felt frustrated by sleeping in.
As I made her lunch, on a whim, I wrote a quick note to her.
Then I put it in a baggie with a cheese stick so that I knew she’d see it and packed it into her lunch box with the rest of her lunch.
It perked her up and made her afternoon a little bit brighter.
Do you ever leave little notes for your children or husband?
Have you ever received an unexpected note that brightened your day?

David will leave short notes on the shower walls with the boys’ foam letters and sometimes a foggy mirror note. :)
I hide notes in his bags when he packs…
I love leaving and I love finding sweet little love notes.
It really does brighten my day to know that someone loves me and made the effort to surprise me with a smile.
I put a note in Jet’s lunch everyday! I keep a stash of index cards and a pen in the kitchen to make it easy. They usually say something simple like “Baseball practice tonight! Fun!” or “I’m so glad God gave you to our family!”. So quick and easy. One time I forgot, and he called me on it that night. ;)
He obviously looks forward to the notes – how awesome.
I used to put them in the eldest’s lunch box regularly…that and a Hershey kiss every Friday. I don’t do it so much for the middle boys, but I probably should. Everyone needs an extra bit of love. :)
I love the Hershey’s Kiss. What a fun idea. I slip something like that in Kaylee’s lunch, but it’s sporadic.
I do leave notes to my husband and son when I will be out late or will be gone for any length of time. I should do it more often ‘just because’. Thank you for the reminder!
I leave notes for Amelia in her lunch once in a while and I surprised her by cutting her sandwiches into a heart with a cookie cutter. My mom used to always write me notes in my lunch and I loved it, and so does Amelia. :)
I used to write Kyle notes but he doesn’t appreciate them, and I doubt I’ve ever gotten a “just because” note from him. He’s oblivious when it comes to the small things… Amongst other things, but I’ll shut up now.
