My Girl
Kaylee brought a friend home from school the other day. They came into the kitchen, where I was working, barefoot, in my long apron that covered my long skirt. She gestured at the row of mason jars I had cooling on the towel-covered counter and said, “What’s in the jars?”
I said, “Grape jelly. We were out so a made a few pints.”
Kaylee looked at her friend and said, “My mom’s a homemaker.”
As if that said it all.
I love that girl.
