The Best Husband on the Planet

I have told you before about my awesome husband’s love language of gift giving.  But I don’t know if I’ve ever really expanded on Gregg’s cleverness.

Our wedding anniversary is coming up this month.  For eight years, I’ve been married to this amazing man.  For a while, I couldn’t believe that he had wanted me. It still flabbergasts me sometimes as to how blessed I am, how much God has given me in this man whom I love and adore more than I could ever put into words.

So, a couple of weeks ago, he told me that he mailed me a box and he couldn’t wait for me to get it.  (For you new visitors to my blog, Gregg is in Afghanistan.)  He just doesn’t have time or opportunity to mail a lot of boxes, so I was excited.  For him to have purchased something for me, and be able to work time into his schedule to actually mail it was very intriguing.  When I got the box today, it was very small, and my anticipation of what was inside was further piqued.

Long ago, I lamented to my husband that the only good pen I’d ever used was an Army pen.  My dad (retired career Army) used to have them all the time.  They’re black ball point pens that click open and shut.  They fit well in the hand, they work all the time, they last forever.  And now that I lived well away from a military installation, I have spent my whole adult life unable to find anything even remotely comparable.

One weekend after a National Guard drill, my husband brought home an Army pen for me.  I was so excited.  I still have it in my purse and use it to write checks.  I have probably commented to him a dozen times how much I love this pen.

So, I opened the box today and laughed with absolute joy.  Here is my present from my husband:

It even came with a newspaper article talking about the pen.

I so love that man.
