The Ternary Plan

Limiting was HARD. I was all done in a day, then the next day saw something else, and the next day Gregg wanted to order something online, and the next day I thought of another great gift idea…but because we had committed to each other that it would only be three presents, from here on out, we kept ourselves from going overboard.

During this Christmas season, as we celebrate the greatest gift of Love this world has ever seen, take a moment in the busy hustle and bustle and give your husband or wife an extra word or two of adoration, admiration, love, or respect.

Wordless Wednesday: Christmas “Eve”

My husband sent this to me. I said, “I don’t get it.”

He said, “Just look at it.”

I said, “I still don’t get it.”

So, he very slowly said, “Christmas….EVE.”

I said, “OHHHHHHH, duh! HAHAHA.”

Wintertime Worship

Sadly, our culture has shifted its focus to the dazzling lights and away from a dazzling Savior. Commercialism has swallowed whatever Christmas used to be before it was this. Battles are fought over the very name of the holiday, and Santa Claus is embraced more freely than the infant Jesus.1 Santa is an icon in modern culture, and his image is used to sell everything from soda to sports cars. How is a Christian to view Santa in light of the true meaning of Christmas?

Real Photos

Both boys were in their Christmas sweaters for church and I wanted to take a picture of how cute they were to send to my husband, Gregg, in Afghanistan. The second I pulled out the camera, they started crying. Wailing. Rending of clothes and gnashing of teeth. It was so dramatic. The tears immediately dried up the second I threw my hands in the air and gave up.

Eggnog Pancakes

I set out with the intent of creating a week of “Christmas Breakfast Ideas” and had the thought of doing an eggnog pancake recipe. Well, the eggnog recipe that I’ve been making since my mom would let me into the kitchen is simply: 1 egg, 1 cup whole milk, sugar, and spices. Since my pancake recipe calls for 1 egg and 1 cup milk, rather than having to go through the extra bowl and beaters to make eggnog, we’re just going to make pancakes with eggnog seasonings.

Menu Monday 21 Dec 2009

This is the last week before Christmas, and I’ll be preparing to go out of town for several days. Two things are going to be different because of that: (1) I am going to be doing different breakfasts so that I can do a “Christmas Breakfast Ideas” post; and (2) the meals toward the end of the week will be very simple with little chance of leftovers. We are leaving 4AM Thursday morning, so my menu will end with Wednesday.

Here’s the menu plan for my family for the week of Monday, December 21st.

Creation: Mother Nature’s Plan

Before I step into the primordial soup that is Chemical Evolution, which slips nicely down the logical slope into the quagmire of Abiogenesis, I must preface those future posts with some foundational data. This data is important for context. The foundational data we must examine has to do with the fallacy of Darwinist reification and the age of the earth. In this post, I will focus on reification.
