Seeds of Faith: Lies Women Believe About Sin

Posted by Hallee on Oct 15, 2011 in Biblical womanhood, Christian Faith, holiness, Lies and Truth, Life

This was just one paragraph from this entire chapter. This chapter was so important and so relevant to having an abiding relationship with Jesus Christ and living a life free from the bondage of sin, that I feel like reading it every single day, over and over again, until the words are impressed in my memory.

The Power of a Praying Wife: Chapter 26 – His Deliverance

Posted by Hallee on Jul 23, 2011 in Christian Faith, Holy matrimony, Marriage, Praying Wife

There’s a man in our church to gave his testimony Sunday morning. His story is a story of deliverance that most of us have no ability to understand. He was raised in church, knew about Jesus Christ, and turned to God only when he needed help getting out of the worst trouble. A failed marriage with children, drug addiction, drug dealing to support addiction, and finally prison.

The Power of a Praying Wife: Chapter 25 – His Repentance

Posted by Hallee on Jun 11, 2011 in Christian Faith, Holy matrimony, Marriage, Praying Wife

I used to think the term “repentance” was the entire package of what a Christian was to do. Likely because of pop culture political cartoons or caricatures with some sign or caption in them about “repent and be saved!” So, in my mind, repentance meant confession of sins and turning away from sins while accepting Jesus Christ into your life and heart all at the same time.

Creation: Resurrection Sunday

Posted by Gregg on Apr 24, 2011 in apologetics, Christian Faith, Creation

The price has been paid. The empty tomb is the proof of this truth. We have only but to embrace the truth, and we will experience a love that passes our ability to comprehend because that love for us is infinite and eternal. That love for us that comes from our immortal, eternal, infinite Creator.

Revisiting Eostre and Her Bunny

Posted by Hallee on Apr 19, 2011 in apologetics, Christian Faith, holiness, inspiration, Life, Parenting

Now here we are at Easter again. The very basis for our faith, for our lives, is that Jesus Christ paid the payment for our sins by suffering and dying on the cross, was buried in a tomb and resurrected on the third day, then He ascended into Heaven and sits at Father God’s right hand. That is the core of everything we believe, the reason we live the way we live, and our message to the world.

Ash Wednesday & the Beginning of Lent

Posted by Hallee on Mar 9, 2011 in Christian Faith, diet & fasting, Hallee's Galley, holiness, inspiration, Life

Ash Wednesday comes from the practice of placing ashes on the foreheads of the faithful as a sign of repentance. Traditionally, the ashes used are gathered after the Palm Crosses from the previous year’s Palm Sunday are burned and mixed with oil. In the Roman Catholic Church, Ash Wednesday is observed by fasting, abstinence from meat, and repentance. It is a day for contemplating one’s transgressions. Ash Wednesday is also the first day of Lent.

Love, Compassion & Pimento Cheese Sandwiches

I was at my parents’ house this weekend, along with my youngest brother and his family and my sister and her family. After church on Sunday, there was a rush to the kitchen to get children fed – all seven of my parents’ grandchildren, four of whom are under the age of four. PB&J’s, hot dogs, tortillas and melted cheese — we quickly had seven hungry children sitting at the table to eat. Then it was the adults’ turn. I dug around my mother’s fridge and came up with a container of pimento cheese.

Feeding the Homeless for Jesus

Lisa Voveris won our annual Missions Giveaway last week.  Her mission is “Feeding the Homeless for Jesus,” a ministry that she runs out of her own kitchen. Outside one winter, she was so cold that her legs were hurting.  She started thinking about the homeless people who live in tents in her city of Taunton, [...]

Brokenness

Posted by Hallee on Feb 9, 2011 in Biblical womanhood, Christian Faith, holiness, inspiration

So, I’ve been there. And I’ve done that. My older brother one time called me “the strongest person I’ve ever known.” At the time that floored me. I wasn’t strong, in my eyes, I was just getting through my life. (Almost) always with God there. (Almost) always relying on God. And I didn’t see what the big deal was to focus on what HAD happened compared to what is NOW or what COULD BE. So I said to my husband, with such arrogance and pride that typing this now I feel shame, “I’m not broken.”
