Maia the Dog
December 13th, we laid to rest the best dog on the planet.
A Christmas gift for Kaylee when she was 3-years-old, Maia had been a loving and faithful member of this family for almost exactly 11 years.
There will forever be a hole in our lives – a place where she fit perfectly.
I recently read Heaven is For Real by Todd Burpo (highly recommended, by the way) and one thing that really stuck with me was the mention of animals — of pets — in heaven. If any pet deserved a life of peace and rest in heaven, it was Maia.
We’ll miss you, good girl. And we’ll see you again soon.
Hallee
I’m so grateful for your visit, today.
You would bless me if you added me to your feed reader or subscribed via email.
You can also become a fan on Facebook or follow me on Twitter. I would love to see more of you!
I’m so sorry. I’ve had three pets in my life that lived to be Maia’s age. It’s so hard to lose them after all those years.
Hugs to you and your children Hallee during this period of loss! I have cried for my pets that I have loss too, so I understand!!
OH Hallee!!! (hugs) I’m so sorry for the loss of your beloved Maia.
Losing a furry family member is almost like losing a child.
You and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers.
Something that helped our children this summer when we lost our Cookie-dog in July (a border collie mut who was 8 months old when we got married 7 years ago) I let them draw lots of pictures of our Cookie doing all the happy things they loved to do with her. Playing catch. Running in the woods. Wearing super capes. And we talked about all the things we loved about her… because she is now our guardian angel watching over them and would want them to be happy when they thought of her.
That’s a hard loss for any family; hugs!
I’m so sorry Hallee…this made me cry! what a beautiful loving dog!
This has me in tears. I’m still not over losing my own dear dog last summer. I am so sorry.
tears also ….I’m so sorry for your loss
