Surviving Separation: Accepting Help

Posted by Hallee on May 12, 2011 in Marriage, Surviving separation

I’m not a handy woman. I can work things that don’t require a lot of mechanical know-how. For instance, I can use a level and a measuring tape to map out a series of wall hangings that will be evenly spaced and properly hanged; however, that’s just math. I’m good with math. What I can’t do is use a drill, a chain saw, or any of the other multiple power tools and mechanical items in my husband’s workshop.

Roller Coaster Rides

My friend, Ann Marie, at Household6Diva wrote an amazing post a couple of days ago. It made me cry. Gregg goes back Friday, which accounts for some of the emotions I’m sure.

John Piper on Women in Combat

Posted by Hallee on Jul 29, 2010 in Blog Stuff

If I were the last man on the planet to think so, I would want the honor of saying no woman should go before me into combat to defend my country. A man who endorses women in combat is not pro-woman; he’s a wimp. He should be ashamed. For most of history, in most cultures, he would have been utterly scorned as a coward to promote such an idea. Part of the meaning of manhood as God created us is the sense of responsibility for the safety and welfare of our women.

Surviving Separation: Time Left

Posted by Hallee on Jul 16, 2010 in Love, Surviving separation

Gregg calls where he is the weirdest timezone on the planet. It isn’t 8 hours ahead of Eastern Standard Time. Or 9 hours ahead. It’s 8½ hours ahead.

Not always easy to calculate on the fly. I’ve gotten good at it, but it’s easier for me to calculate forward than it is for him to calculate backward.
